A contact model for rough crushable sand

چکیده
Sand roughness is now accessible to measurement. Incorporating this parameter into sand models using the discrete element method (DEM) known improve bulk small strain response. In work we explore effect on problems where particle crushing takes place. A well-established DEM model and a rough Hertzian contact are here combined incorporate both effects in single model. Including results stronger particles whilst all other material parameters being equal. The then used simulate high pressure oedometric compression tests strong silica sand. It shown that including realistic values of surface enables correctly capture load-unload behaviour size distribution evolution while elastic properties for grains. Roughness refinement may result simpler, more objective calibrations.

A Multi Plane Model for Natural Anisotropy of Sand
Anisotropy of sand is mainly due to the geometrical arrangement of particles that depends on the orientation of applied load respect to the bedding plane. It is geologically due to micro-fabric created by the arrangement of the particles configured during deposition. Most of the models develop using stress/strain invariants are not capable of identifying this kind of anisotropy. This is mainly ...
متن کاملA Model for Deformation and Fragmentation in Crushable Brittle Solids
A unified framework of continuum elasticity, inelasticity, damage mechanics, and fragmentation in crushable solid materials is presented. A free energy function accounts for thermodynamics of elastic deformation and damage, and thermodynamically admissible kinetic relations are given for inelastic rates (i.e., irreversible strain and damage evolution). The model is further specialized to study ...
متن کاملElastoplastic contact of rough surfaces: a line contact model for boundary regime of lubrication
This paper introduces an improved friction model accounting for elastoplastic behavior of interacting asperities along contiguous rough surfaces for a line contact solution. It is based on Greenwood and Tripp’s original boundary friction model and specifically tailored for a boundary regime of lubrication. The numerical solution of Reynolds’ equation is achieved by implementing Elrod’s cavitati...
متن کاملA NON-RADIAL ROUGH DEA MODEL
There are situations that Decision Making Units (DMU’s) have uncertain information and their inputs and outputs cannot alter redially. To this end, this paper combines the rough set theorem (RST) and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and proposes a non-redial Rough-DEA (RDEA) model so called additive rough-DEA model and illustrates the proposed model by a numerical example.
متن کاملA Non-radial rough DEA model
For efficiency evaluation of some of the Decision Making Units that have uncertain information, Rough Data Envelopment Analysis technique is used, which is derived from rough set theorem and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). In some situations rough data alter nonradially. To this end, this paper proposes additive rough–DEA model and illustrates the proposed model by a numerical example.
